Welcome from Chair of Governors
I was elected as Chair of Teddington School’s Governing Body in Sept 2013. I have been a governor of Teddington for the past eleven years, initially as a Parent and now as a Community Governor. Our three children all benefited from Teddington’s broad academic, sporting and extra-curricular offering but only one of them was lucky enough to experience time in the new building.
I am proud to have been associated with Teddington throughout a period which has seen a sustained improvement in results, a stunning new building, conversion to Academy status and now the development of a Sixth Form.
I am totally committed to the school and to ensuring that every child is offered the opportunity and support to flourish and achieve their full potential both academically and in the skills required to lead a fulfilling life and contribute to society.
If you have questions, queries or anything that you would like to bring to my attention, please do not hesitate to contact me via email@example.com.
What do the Governors Do?
The School’s Governing Body is made up of people from the school’s immediate and wider community. The composition of the Governing Body is as follows:
- Eight Community Governors
- One Local Authority Governor
- Six Parent Governors
- Four Staff Governors – including the Headteacher
The governing body of a school is responsible for making sure that it is run to promote pupil achievement and to raise standards. Their duties, in partnership with the Headteacher, include:
- Setting strategic direction, policies and objectives;
- Approving the school budget;
- Reviewing progress against the school's budget and objectives;
- Supporting and advising the Headtacher
The full Governing Body meets twice each term. In addition, the Governing Body has established a number of committees for specific aspects of its work, and these committees hold separate meetings, generally twice each term.
