Sports Tour 

Due to the high participation rates of students involved in playing for school teams and attending after school clubs, the PE team have been offering an opportunity to boys and girls in Years 8, 9 and 10 to participate in a Sports Tour during Easter Break.  Since our first tour to Barcelona in 2008 we have had several tours to Lake Garda, Italy in 2009, 2011 and will be visiting again in 2012.

The success of these tours has prompted the PE Staff to look further a field and to other links, namely South Africa and our two partnership schools.  We will be running our first Sports Tour to South Africa in 2013.  We aim to establish a tri-annual tour, enabling all students at some point during their time at Teddington to travel to Hottentots Holland High School and Eesterivier High School in Cape Town. 

Through these tours we intend to give Teddington students a real experience of South Africa the country. Students will be involved in in various programmes while they are there; coaching younger students, teaching older students how to run Top Link Festivals, working at the Geodgedacht Project helping combat poverty and climate change. Obviously there will be plenty of sports fixtures and students will visit the sights that Cape Town has to offer.  On the back of this tour we hope to host one of our link schools on a return trip to London in the near future.
